Pastry Kicks for critters

Photobucket

Pastry Kicks are now making they're super cute sneaker for children. Adorned with the same rhinestones, patterns and fabrics as the adult range these shoes are bound to be popular. The childrens range is now fully available on the internet and comes in four size ranges:

-Gradeschool (that's primary school to Australians)

-Pre school

-Toddler and

-Infant

My favourites are the Pastry Candy Kisses Fab Hitops (pictured below). Emboided with the Run Athletics logo, a tiny opink Pastry tag, gold logo at the heel and adorned with two itte-bitte rhinestones, these are bound to be on the feet of every fresh kiddie that can get their hands on them. They also feature soft fabric lines, a padded footbed and a non-slip sole to prevent unfortunate stacks when your kid is busting a move.

If you don't have any children of your own, remember Christmas is coming up. OR you can follow my lead and buy the smallest size there is and tie them around the review mirror in your car (looks heaps cooler than fluffy dice).

Prices start at $40 US. You can view the full range of shoes and online stockists at:

All Day I Dream About Sneakers

Photobucket

Adidas Originals and Lifelounge Magazine have come together in a collaborative project to celebrates and showcases the work of the original sneaker freak- Herr Fritz Träumer.

Träumer was a truely visionary sneaker designer; taking sneakers beyond the limitations of function and into a world of vast imagination. He devoted his life to the design of sneakers for adidas and now his private work is being showcased.

The exhibition was held at Melbourne's Dakota 501 store and showcased the story and kicks of this amazing artist. If you wern't lucky enough to catch it don't worry! You can still grab a copy of the unique book realeased by Adidas and Lifelounge. The leather bound book features excerpts from Träumer's private journals and imagery of his incredible sneaker creations.

The designs are absolutley mind-blowing. If you're at all interested in sneakers, design or art then they are a must-see. You can download a PDF version of the book for free at the Lifelounge website:

http://www.lifelounge.com/All-Day-I-Dream-About-Sneakers.aspx

Or if you live in Australia or New Zealand you can pick up a copy to have and to hold forever at selected sneaker retailers.

Sneaker Freaker

Photobucket

If you're crazy enough about sneaker to be on this blog and you don't have a subscription to Sneaker Freaker- GET ONE!

Sneaker Freaker is a tri-annual (previously bi-annual) Australian magazine that is dedicated to the coverage of all things sneaker-related.

First published in June 2002, Sneaker Freaker is now huge. It has a current print run of 30,000 copies and is sold in 35 different countries.

Considering that Sneaker Freaker was first created by editor Simon Wood as a way to scam free shoes; the magazine has come a long way.

You can buy a seven pack of the magazine for about $45 US or $8.99 US per issue. If you're lucky enough to live in beautiful Sydney you can pick it up from most Sneaker specialist stores and General Pants Co.

Even if you're if you're not keen enough for a seven pack (and therefore insane), then you should check out the website anyhow. It features forums (including the awesome Freakette forum-only for the ladies), the latest reales in kicks, heaps of articles, competitions and even a shop where you can buy mags and cute accessories (like pink graffiti ipod skins).

Pastry Kicks

Photobucket

Pastry Kicks have to be one the best labels on the market for women's sneakers. The designers Vanessa and Angela Simmons make fresh, eye-catching, girly sneakers. Patterns and fabrics bring to mind jam filled donuts, cupcakes with sprinkles and varies other sweet treats. For the girl that wants a nice sneaker with a girly edge, Pastry are definatley the way to go.

To match your kicks Pastry make amazing handbags, bowling bags and messenger bags that come in the smae fabrics and pattern as the sneakers (pictured below).

Photobucket Photobucket

Pastry have recently just started making clothing. Cute T-Shirts, dresses and my personal favourite; the hoodies can be found on their website http://www.pastrykicks.com/.

Price start at about $60 American for the kicks, but with the state of the economy that's not too bad for Australians. I have yet to find anyone that stocks Pastry in Australia but there's a few online US stockists who are happy to ship internationally for about $20. Trust me, if you ever get a pair of these kicks on your feet you'll be more than happy to fork out the $$$.

Check out www.pastryshoescollection.com for the full range of kicks, clothing and handbags and online stockists.

Finding the perfect laces

Photobucket

Whether you're replacing your old classic laces for your vintage Jordan's or looking for something with a little more excitment to jazz up a plain pair of Airforces, laces can be hard to find.

The best laces I've ever found were from an op-shop on Crown St in Paddington. The laces were made in the 50's and are originally made for tennis shoes. They're medium width, white laces with rainbow hearts and rainbow stars covering them. I am one of the few lucky people to find cheap($12), mint condition, vintage laces.

For original patterns that no-one else can find keep your eyes peeled at your local op-shops. C's Flashback on King St and Crown St have handed me some amazing laces (not to mention shoes!) and Cream on Crown usually have some amazing laces(you may remember Cream On Crown from last year when they retreived about 50 pairs of 80's Converse Hi-Tops).

Ebay has and always will, hold a special place in the heart of every sneaker fiend. Laces on ebay seem to mostly be patterned with emo bands and pink glitter. It's a alot harder to find interesting patterns but it can be done.

Check out http://www.lacesforless.com/ for a good range widths and colours as well as a few cute patterns.

And if you get really into your laces check out Ian's Shoelace Website at www.fieggen.com/shoelace, where you can find laces, accessories and different styles of tying.

Booji Sneakers

Photobucket

Booji Shoes (stemming from JB Classics) are growing and growing and growing in popularity...and you can see why. The shoes have an elegent feel about them, making them quite different from other women's sneakers out on the market. Simplicity in colour and design seem to be the key features of the line, the fabrics are amzing and the shoes comfortable and cushioned.

The first realease in the line is Regal-One (pictured above), that features lushious quilting and fresh pockets to keep your cash, lipgloss or even phone in. The kicks are amazing and so is lady that fronts the line. Long time JB Classics designer MDot is behind the line. MDot used all her experience to create the line which will be fully realeased by the end of the year.

There's an amazing interview with MDot on www.sneakerfreaker.com
I have yet to find stockists in Australia but as always the internet provides Australian's with ways top get their hands on amazing shoes.

For more info on Booji you can visit www.boojihouse.com
